Can I use Hibernation while the computer is protected by SmartShield Home?

Hibernation process is saving all the data from the memory in a file called hiberfil.sys located on the root of the C: drive (assuming you have the operating system installed on C:). Since this area is protected, using hibernation while the protection is on may have unpredictable results. The worse think that can happen is to not be able to resume from hibernation and you will loose data that you had it in memory and was not saved. The Operating system will start normally without resuming from hibernation. Usual you will get a message about hibernation file being corrupted and you need to choose to delete the hibernation data and boot normally in Windows.

If you want to make sure your computer is not using hibernation, simply disable the hibernation feature on your computer. If you have XP, go in Control Panel->Power Options. Click on the Hibernate tab and uncheck Enable Hibernation. If you have Vista/Windows7 run as administrator a command prompt window and type "powercfg -h off". To open and administrator command promt window type cmd on the Start Search field and press Ctrl+Shift+Enter. Then click continue or enter an administrator password on UAC prompt.Or simply create a shortcut to C:\Windows\system32\cmd.exe on your Desktop, right click on the shortcut and choose "Run as administrator".
